Yeah. There's actually a comic (graphic novel? manga? whatever it's called) titled Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. It's a shoujo version of Spider-Man and focuses more on character relationships with absolutely no action sequences. And yeah, I read it. And liked it.

Well, there's 20 chapters(?) in all, which came in only 2 BIG volumes in hard cover, and I was so disappointed when the relationship between MJ and Spider-Man didn't advance in the end. The comic is really aimed toward tween girls (probably..), and it reads more like a high school teenage drama than the traditional Spider-Man stories, but MJ and Peter Parker were still just friends at the end! Noooo! Why won't the writer just make them a couple?! I was waiting for that to happen but it never did! Why must Peter Parker always be distracted by villains and not live a normal life and be with MJ happily ever after like in those fairy tales?! I just wanted to see them together! Noooo...! <insert sobbing noise>

They do imply that they'll become a couple in the last scene. And it was real interesting to see this "shoujo manga" take on the Spider-Man franchise. Probably scared the heck out of Spider-Man fanboys though, because it's really really different.

Right now I'm working on a predominantly family-themed webcomic, my next one will probably be in the morbid humor genre (certainly a departure from my usual materials), and one of these days I wanna get to work on a romance-themed comic. Probably needs to be romantic comedy though. I could NEVER produce anything with no attempts at humor.
